Ingredients

1 Cup Dalia (Broken Wheat)

1 medium size chopped onion

1 inch ginger grated

1 medium sized chopped tomato

½ cup chopped carrots

¼ cup green peas

¼ cup sweet corn (optional)

4 cups water

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

½ teaspoon turmeric powder

½ teaspoon red chilli powder (add as per your taste)

1 pinch garam masala (optional)

Salt as required

Chopped coriander for garnishing

Method

  • Heat oil in pressure cooker.

  • Once oil heated up, add cumin seeds and let it splutter.

  • Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.

  • Add grated ginger and sauté for 5 seconds.

  • Add chopped tomatoes, carrots, green peas and sweet corn. Sauté for 2 minutes on slow flame.

  • Keep stirring until everything mixes well and gets soft.

  • Rinse dalia (broken wheat) and add to above mixture.

  • Add boiling water.

  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala (optional) and salt to taste.

  • Mix well.

  • Close the pressure cooker with the lid and let it cook for 2 whistles.

  • Check if dalia cooked properly and turn off the gas.

  • Add chopped coriander for garnishing.

  • Squeeze few lemon drops to enhance the flavour.

  • Serve warm or hot with smile.

Special Tips/ Notes

 1. Sometime it needs more water depend on broken wheats. If you find more water once cooked then cook on low flame

without lid and keep stirring. If dalia partly cooked then add little boiling water and keep stirring on slow flame.
